For the first time since 2007, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday. So no skipping school, calling off work, or coming in hungover the day after. From sun-up to sundown, there’s something going down for Chicago’s tribute to the Irish.

Though the river dyeing over at the Loop starts at 10:45 a.m., you may want to head there much earlier so you can hold down the fort against the thousands that flock on over for the day’s festivities. Rain or shine, the parade will begin at noon until about 3 p.m.

And a few tips to keep in mind:

If you don’t mind all the squishing, and public displays of debauchery, our very own CTA will be more than accommodating, as finding parking will be its own adventure (and an expensive one at that).
Bring some food. It’s not going to be fun if you have to give up your space in the crowd in lieu of hunger. No one’s going to save your spot.
Bring a coat - Chicago weather can be unpredictable.

After parade festivities (or even before), head to the many Irish pubs all over Chicago. Whether Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, or even River North - Guiness, green beers, and Irish Car Bombs won’t be too hard to find. With Fado, Hidden Shamrock, and maybe O’Callaghan’s in between, it will probably be a physically taxing day that will surely carry over onto Sunday.

Congrats to Chicago Sport and Social's top teams!

Customizo wants to congratulate the top ranked teams for a few of Chicago Sport and Social’s current leagues! Basketball, volleyball, and bowling are under way and teams are playing their best to get the top spot.

In the Men’s Competitive Basketball League, the top four teams include the Muffinmen, Pink Fuzzy Bunnies, Lakeshore, and SICA. All four teams are undefeated in their league and tied for first place. However, Muffinmen and Pink Fuzzy Bunnies will be squaring off this week; and for both an undefeated record of 2-0 is at stake. Good Luck!

Indoor volleyball is another competitive sport that Chicago Sport and Social offers. The Coed Upper Intermediate 6’s Volleyball has two teams fighting to be number one. Murder, Kill, Spike and Show Time! both have an undefeated record of 6-0. Congratulations, and keep it up!

The Coed 4 vs. 4 Bowling League has been competing for weeks and two teams are still tied for number one. Strike Happens and Bowl Job both have 14 wins and 0 losses, giving them the best ranking in their league. Great job!
